Rosenberg Advertising’s 20+ year partnership with Discount Drug Mart began by chance, with an overheard conversation.
A Rosenberg employee happened to hear a frustrated Drug Mart representative lamenting that he was unsatisfied with his current ad agency. Discount Drug Mart at that time was well known to every Clevelander, with a jingle to match. Quickly recognizing an exciting opportunity, she introduced herself. Dave Rosenberg and his team put together a pitch that went well, and a relationship was born.
When we began working with Drug Mart, they had around 20 stores, all in the Cleveland market. Fast forward to the present and they now have more than 75 stores, and have expanded into the Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati markets. Rosenberg Advertising has been with them every step of the way. We are responsible for all media buying and promotions, as well as assisting in grand opening events, other major promotional endeavors and media partnerships. We helped to set up Drug Mart’s sponsorship of the Cleveland National Air Show.
One of the most satisfying parts of our work with Discount Drug Mart is creating and producing their radio and television commercials. Since Drug Mart is your hometown pharmacy (that saves you the runaround), we’ve had the chance to feature hometown Cleveland landmarks like the Westside Market, Cleveland sports mascots like Sully, Slider and Moon Dog, and Cleveland celebrities from Bernie Kosar to Mike Hargrove.
In 2014 we approached former Cleveland news anchor Wilma Smith about appearing in a new series of Drug Mart TV commercials. Wilma was already a fan of Drug Mart and liked the creative direction we presented, and agreed. The commercials were a big hit locally, and as a result, we’ve just finished producing a new set of commercials with Wilma that we’re really proud of. They will debut in March.
